Before I share the recommended method for properly caring for your bra, it’s important to mention a few facts about the material from which Kefin bras are made.

The main materials used are swimwear fabric and elastic. After six years of experience and trial and error, I have stuck with domestic suppliers who, in the long run, provide what I dare say is high-quality material. However, an unavoidable fact is that both swimwear fabric and elastic have a relatively short lifespan. Due to their elasticity, both materials tend to stretch out and wear down over time.

What Has the Biggest Impact on Fabric and Elastic Longevity?

We all know that UV exposure affects color, and frequent contact with chlorine or salt impacts elasticity.

However, what is less commonly known is the effect of sweat and its composition on a bra’s lifespan—something I’ve observed through my repair and elastic replacement services.

Some people sweat minimally, while others sweat excessively. The composition of sweat depends on a mix of factors, including physical activity level, stress, diet, and other influences.

This realization explained to me why some people’s bras look new even after five years of wear, while others need to replace theirs after just a year.

Keeping Your Kefin Bra in Top Condition

1) Best Maintenance Method

Fill a container (bowl, sink, pot, etc.) with lukewarm water (just regular tap water).

Submerge your bra in the water.

Sprinkle baking soda over it and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil.

Let the bra soak for a whole day if needed, stirring the mixture occasionally by hand. Then rinse thoroughly, wring it out gently, and let it dry.

This method will remove dirt and sweat from both the fabric and the elastic, leaving your bra fresh and vibrant.

This washing method is particularly recommended for bras that contain merino wool, but it works for all others too!

I personally use this method for all my pieces as needed.

The Benefits of This Washing Method

You can use this method even while traveling for extended periods. I personally use baking soda as shampoo, and essential oil as my perfume. Washing my clothes in lukewarm water in a pot is no big deal on the road. Plus, this method is environmentally friendly, so you can pour the used water into nature without worry.

You can also use other cleaning agents. For outdoor fabrics, gall soap, eco-friendly laundry detergents, or even your trusted shampoo work well.

At home, you can use regular laundry detergent if you prefer.

I specifically mention baking soda + essential oil because, from my experience, this combination provides the best results.

I wash Kefin tank tops and dresses the same way—after soaking, I simply hang them on a hanger in the shower.

By morning, they’re dry and wrinkle-free!
